The technique has a deep history in Asia through Kalamkari, an ancient India art, and also in China and Japan, where other forms of patterning were developed. Now recognized on a global level, fabric painting is used on a daily basis as a hobby and for business.

What type of cloth is suitable for fabric painting on kurti?

100% cotton is the best fabric to try your painting on. Cotton is good for holding paint. And also, the paint will not get washed away or anything. The paint just sticks onto cotton. Other fabrics are also paintable, but they can be a bit tricky. You can also use other types of fabrics, but it will take some practice before you move onto other clothes.
